Just when I think Burn Notice might be starting to slow its roll, the scribes drop a major can of whoop ass. Gilroy sure did go out with a bang, eh? Turns out the whole dance between he and Mikey was nuthin’ but a preamble to what’s setting up to be an explosive season three finale next week. Anytime a hooded guy steps off a plane constrained with arm and leg shackles, it’s safe to assume he’s got issues. Mike thought he had problems before, but this dude Simon looks like he’s in another league of madmen.
I won’t spend too much time on Fi’s flirtation with the bad attitude Antonio Banderas named Gabriel, except to say she really did walk a tightrope in trying to foil his kidnapping ring. If not for Mikey’s fast doctoring of her passport, she would have been in a heap o’ trouble. Good thing Mike likes her.
Back to this Simon character. Man, he must really loathe our favorite spy guy to pay Gilroy $10 million smackers just for the opportunity to get a shot at the prize. The prize being Michael Westen in a body bag. So, who is Simon? One of our fine CliqueClack readers suggested maybe it’s Mike’s daddy. While that would please me to no end, it seems as if that’s not the case.
No, it would appear that Simon is just another international criminal/psychopath who has a bone to pick with the man from Miami. Ya know, I’m beginning to think this might be some elaborate game concocted by the the bored powers that be in the CIA. Allow me to explain.
You burn a world-class spy and dump him in some random city. Then you put out an announcement to badasses, soldiers of fortune, rogue agents and mercenaries across the globe declaring open season on this former toasty operative who is now persona non grata. Maybe toss in a cash reward, but the satisfaction of icing an American CIA spook should be incentive enough. Great way to spend a little down time.
Of course I’m not being serious. But you have to wonder why all these nutjobs have such a hard-on for Mikey boy. Someone at the tippy top in the chain of command gets his/her jollies twisting the screws on Mr. Westen. Who could it be? Discovering the answer to that question is why we all watch the show. That plus Fiona’s dangerous curves and Sam’s many incarnations of Chuck Finley.

Its not antonio banderas btw , its the guy who played tony in 24 for couple seasons.
Since Garret Dillahunt plays Simon in the season finale I’d doubt it will be as Mikes father :)

And why would Mike’s dad want him dead anyhow? Nothing in the show’s plot has show his dad as being nothing more than an past abusive father who skipped out on the whole parenting gig..nothing showed him as a MOST WANTED psychopath.

Uh, I know who Antonio Banderas is. Thanks for being so literal. And sorry, the dude does look like him, except he has a “bad attitude.”
Ummm…. you guys are a bit on the slow side, eh? As far as we know, according to the past seasons, Mike’s father is…. wait for it…. DEAD. Go back through the seasons and check it out.
Westen, Sr. has always been assumed by everyone to be dead, but Michael has too many daddy issues, and there have been too many hints dropped that his father was more than just a small-time criminal, for that to be the case forever. They’ve got to pull him out of a bag at some point.
Michael’s dossier may have been lies against him, but someone had to do those things or they wouldn’t have had any credibility. I’m thinking Simon is the guy that did all of the horrible things in Mike’s faked past and is being directed by “the agency who burned him” to clean up their failure to recruit Mike.
“Management” told Michael that without their protection he is open to attack from anyone, they probably assumed all of his former enemies would take care of him. It actually doesn’t seem like many of them got the memo, as I can only recall 3 or 4 people showing up from his past.
Scott Tunstall you need glasses if you think Carlos Bernard aka Gabriel looks anything like Antonio Banderas.
As far as who this guy is, it already says all over the internet he is a world class terrorist, so it might be plausable that Mike was burned so the agency could get mike close to this guy as they knew there was a plan to break him free.
