Plus, if he didn’t have the smarts he probably would’ve never been able to piece all the clues together to close out 50 unsolved mysteries. Not only is he smart, but he has that super memory of his to give him that additional edge. Yet, he still acts like an annoying nine-year-old boy who is looking for everyone to watch him squirt milk from his nose. Most of the time it’s tolerable. But when he decides to go all out it’s frustrating to watch.
Granted, Shawn was frustrated as well. While the think tank gig was a sweet opportunity, it weakened Shawn to the point of playing with the strands of his Big League Chew during discussions on where the next assassination attempt on his client would take place. It was only after he left the room and found out it was all a sham that he was able to put it all together. Still, even when he did figure it out he was still annoying and, when given the chance, not a very good leader. Let’s face it…Shawn’s no Henry.
Which brings us to an interesting conversation between the senior Spencer and Chief Vick. Since the beginning of the series the Chief has always had an inkling that Shawn’s abilities weren’t really psychic in nature. With Henry’s appearance at one of his son’s reveals, and his refusal to take a position with the police department that would have had him supervise his son, those thoughts have been made even more certain. This is an interesting turn of events: does Vick let this go or does she try to figure out what scam Shawn and Henry are pulling? This could add some additional intrigue to the series. We’ll have to wait and see if the producers move it further along.
Some quick pop culture references. Like last week, these items were heavily shoveled into the plot. Included were: rapper and actor Ed Lover, Big League Chew, Die Hard 3 (otherwise known as Die Hard With a Vengeance), Back to the Future and the hoverboard that, I swear, Mattel was going to market 20 years ago, and Wall Street’s Gordon Gekko.
Next week: According to the preview, perhaps some focus on our favorite Lassie. As a teaser, check out this extended Psych Out featuring Lassiter’s version of I’m Too Sexy.
i’m so glad i wasn’t the only that thought that shawn was intolerable. his annoyingness has been building for the last couple of episodes, but this ridiculous.

Mattel wasn’t going to really market a Hoverboard. They had a joke featurette about it on the BttF2 special features DVD.
I don’t think this episode settled the question of whether or not the Chief believes Shawn’s actually a psychic. Whether he is or isn’t, the department could use someone to rein him in and manage his litigation-provoking antics.
In the past, I’ve never been sure what Vick thought of the matter. Sometimes it seems she treating his psychic abilities with complete solemnity, and at other times it’s as if she’s daring him to admit he’s a fraud. I thought she was being straight with Henry here, not trying to trap him into admitting anything.
