Dear Rob Thomas (the Veronica Mars one, not the Matchbox Twenty one),
I’m writing to see if you can help me out, because I can’t seem to let go of your stellar (yet long canceled) show, Veronica Mars. There’s a lot of great TV on right now, but you know what I have the urge to watch more than anything else? Season one of … you guessed it, Veronica Mars.
OK, that’s not quite true, because if there were a Veronica Mars movie, I’d be wanting to watch that. But alas, news out of the TCAs is nothing but sour for that coming to pass. So I’ve got just a few ideas for you, to help you continue the wonderful story of the clever little girl PI with a big dose of whoop-ass. And heart. The chick’s got heart to spare.
1. Listen to Kristen Bell. If she already said you wrote a script treatment, you’ve got nothing to lose by writing the script. Sure, a treatment’s great and all, but Veronica Mars is your baby, so write it, and they will come. In the unlikely event that they don’t, turn it into a novel. We’ll read it, for sure. Channel the bloom of your first love for VM and write that script as a labor of love; the studios may not be asking you right now, but the fans are.
2. Pitch it to everyone who lives in LA … all of them. We fans don’t care if it’s a TV movie, big screen flick or released straight to DVD. We’ll watch it.
3. Make it yourself. We know you can do it. Heck, you could even use the Party Down set at night, when everyone else is sleeping. They’ll never be the wiser. If the makers of the Blair Witch Project could do it with so little experience and receive so much success, surely the wise and revered Rob Thomas can work that one out. Do it for the fans, Rob.
One of the saddest things I’ve ever heard is that you and Kristen Bell are both available, yet there is no Veronica Mars movie in the works. A travesty that needs a reversal. You, Rob Thomas, have the power to change darkness to light, to right the wrongs and please the fans … so what are you waiting for?
A little birdie told me that you get Google alerts, so I hope you’re reading this and will contact CliqueClack or post a comment. Or just start writing that script….
Sincerely,
Debbie, the overeager VM fan who believes in the movie-that-could-be.
An ‘likes this message’.
Have you seen Bell’s movies? They suck. VM is over, let it go. Why ruin it with a movie?

Now, now, that Sarah Marshall one was very cute!
I can definitely see your point, and the three seasons I got are great, but if KB and RT are both available and the buzz is out there, it’s a shame not to try and make it happen. I’m not sure it could ruin it, b/c if the movie sucks, I have a very selective memory. ;-)
Considering she just has been in “Couples Retreat” (bad), Fanboys (good!) and “Forgetting Sarah Marshal” (very good, even with Jason Segel stripping for the umpteenth time) since VM that’s a hard choice of words. You can’t judge her by movies she did before VM. Or do you really think unknown actors star in movies with great scripts in general? Didn’t think so. She’s also been on “Deadwood” and “Everwood” and did fine work in those episodes. But she also “sucked” on Heroes but was that her fault? I doubt that.
Just because the script sucks it doesn’t mean the actor does, and when it comes to VM you should have chosen the path of criticizing the really bad seasons two and three. But if you’ve seen the idea for “VM @ The FBI” I really wonder why you think the movie would be that bad.
Anyway, consider me a +1 for the movie.
He did write 2/3 of a movie and he tried bringing it around and no one wants one.
I want one dealing with the things that happened in the finale episode. If all of season 3 dealt with that list then the season might not have sucked as much.
From your mouth to god (who is Rob in this case…)
Add me to the +1 list for anything new dealing with Veronica Mars.
And I also think Jack Cross should change his name to Debbie Downer.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall was phenomenal. I would definitely see a Veronica Mars film.
I want to see Veronica Mars the movie with Keith and Logan of course !
Kristen Bell makes crappy movies but she can redeem herself with VM in theaters, yes i have still hope !
I think Veronica Mars was one of the best shows of its kind. The dialogue, the plot, the actors… fantastic! However, the show needs a proper conclusion. I would be first in line to see a VM movie, but it’s been 3 years since the show’s conclusion and personally I don’t think it’s going to happen. A special episode (like the one they had for Prison Break) would also be very welcome. Just give the show and the fans a proper finale. Please!
I will admit I was not a VM fan when it came out. It sounded so corny and inplausible I didnt even give it the time of day. By some weird reason, a few weeks ago, I decided to get season 1 on DVD and just give it a try. Oh boy, was I surprised! What a brilliant, clever show! I cant understand why the network didnt at least give us a 4th season to tie all loose ends (and of course make Logan and Veronica end up together, b/c they do belong together! ;-D)
I am so sad that the movie, as it stands, its not going to happen. I think it was unfair from WB to not give us the decency to tie it all up either in a 4th season or in a movie. It really angers me, and makes it even more true, that the network doesnt care about the fans, they just care about numbers, which is not an overly bad thing, but we the fans make those numbers happen, and without us, there is nothing. So make it happen people!
