I guess I don’t mind Penny and Leonard being a couple — as bizarre as the concept may be — if I don’t have to watch bed scenes with them. I can only suspend my disbelief to a certain point. That point doesn’t include the thought of those two having sex. It just doesn’t. Thankfully we had no bedroom scenes tonight.
I enjoyed tonight’s episode. Now, it wasn’t as cool as the last new show with Wil Wheaton (where’s my Guinness?). But I enjoyed that all of the characters got some airtime. I know I’m a Sheldon fanatic, but the rest of the cast has its good lines, too. Now I want to tell someone “you’re a sucky friend, a sucky sucky friend” the next time I feel a friend has done did me wrong. Thanks, Raj!
So who would have known that Sheldon is a closet football genius? I’d be more likely to guess other secrets from his closet than that. Unfortunately, learning about football from Sheldon tends to make a person take on the Sheldonism attitude of it all. Thus, Leonard totally failed in his effort to mix in with Penny’s friends. Heck, I can’t even figure out what common interests Penny and Leonard have — how would he fit in with her friends? Well, unless they all go to bed together. But we don’t want to go there.
If I had my own choice between kite-fighting and football, the kites would win it hands down. I could have told Leonard that trying to get into football as an adult to share an interest with a romantic partner just doesn’t work. But no one asked me. I didn’t have a Sheldon to teach me. But it’s best to stick to baseball, which makes more sense. Right?
The best thing about tonight’s episode? Why, the Cylon toast popping out of the Cylon toaster. I believe I want one. I think my own toaster can only do tribbles. And you know the trouble with tribbles.

Sheldon was being a really thoughtful and considerate friend to Leonard this entire episode. It felt almost wrong. I loved that his knowledge of football was only matched by his knowledge of chicken-fried meats and that European football was considered a Commie plot in East Texas.
Jackie, I’m enjoying the show and your comments. I sometimes miss out because I’m taping two other shows at the same time. Unfortunately TBBT gets put on the side for that reason and because I know I can watch it with a friend who is taping if I can get over there to see it before the program gets deleted.
I’m not having a problem with Leonard and Penny as a couple because that’s where I wanted it to go in the earlier episodes but now that it’s here, if they don’t linger on those scenes, I’m good.
Sheldon … well what can I say … he’s Sheldon… perfect acting.. love him! Actually, love them all.
I kind of like the scenes when they’re in bed talking — it gives a level of reality to the relationship, so it seems less like the writers are just telling us they’re together and expecting us to accept it.
Also, Leonard and Penny are slightly different people when they’re alone together, which also mirrors real life. (And between Sheldon and the others, they’re hardly ever alone!)
