Not to alarm anyone, but Jason hasn’t been seen in days. So … yeah. Look, life has to go on, right? Jason would have wanted it that way. Besides; the news didn’t stop this week just because Jason’s somewhere in Iran … I mean, missing.
So, here’s what happened this week, in case you missed it:
- Something about the Emmys may or may not have happened, which may or may not have something to do with Jason’s disappearance. Check out Annie’s thoughts, and then go for the group’s.
- It will be a very Happy 20th Anniversary, indeed, as Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) helms The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special in 3-D on Ice. Is that some sort of crack about Homie’s weight?
- Proving, once again, that it’s never too early to tinker, ABC announced that it is in negotiations to replace Dean Winters, as John Haplin on new series Happy Town, with Steven Weber. Weber’s availability is further proof that the world is a little crappier since Studio 60 was cancelled.
- Is strike two shame on me, or shame on you? Either way, MTV’s out to prove it, by naming Russell Brand as the host of the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards.
- In news to me, but not new this week, there’s been a Law & Order: UK, airing in, well, the UK, since February. I guess Dick Wolf adheres to that old adage, “when the dollar’s down, follow the pound.”
- It couldn’t be … it’s outrageous! Oh, it be, baby. TBS is set to pick up Ice Cube’s Are We There Yet? as a television series. In other news, there are reports from Iceland of pigs flying through the night sky.
- As expected, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince broke records this week, and it only opened Wednesday night. The sixth installment in the saga made $22 million at the box office … for its midnight showings! Total gross for Thursday was $104 million, globally. Easy money this thing clears $250 million by the end of the weekend.
- The Listener gets the axe, and somewhere in Germany, Sebastian weeps.
- In other casting news, Eric McCormack is set to star in an upcoming episode of Law & Order: SVU, as well as guest star opposite Julia Louis-Dreyfus on The New Adventures of Old Christine. Elsewhere, Eliza Coupe’s role on Scrubs, as “Jo”, has officially become a series regular, and Jennifer Garner is returning to ABC. That’s right; the old home of Alias has signed a development deal with Garner. No word yet on whether any “SD-6” agents will be required to be murdered.
- NBC is delaying the launch of its new series, Parenthood. After days of silence, Maura Tierney revealed that she is having surgery on a tumor in her breast. Our thoughts are with her. NBC called in the crew of new mid-season series Mercy, to begin production for the fall.
