TV on DVD – July 7th releases

MST3K is just one of those shows that everyone likes, right? I’ve never met anyone who can’t sit down and enjoy a laugh with the boys. Collection Volume XV offers up four episodes, including The Robot Vs. The Aztec Mummy, The Girl In Lovers Lane, Zombie Nightmare, and Racket Girls. Zombie Nightmare stars Adam West and a teenage Tia Carrere. You can’t go wrong with that! In addition, bonus goodies include: Scrapbook Scraps I and II, interviews with Frank Dietz and Jon Mikl Thor from Zombie Nightmare, and Kevin Murphy and Trace Beaulieu in a sneak peek from Hamlet A.D.D.

I’m a sucker for stuff like this. I can’t tell you how many of my weekend hours have been eaten up over the years by programming built on Egypt, the Bible, and space exploration. This is one of the latter, and despite the mysteries of deep space, the moon is still the most fascinating for the simple reason that man has walked there. Moon Machines tells the real stories of the engineers and manufacturers that turned ideas straight out of science fiction into reality.

Much like MST3K and moon documentaries, there’s always room for more Doctor Who. The show has had an amazing lifespan and this week two different sets of classic episodes are being released. In the first set, “The Rescue” / “The Romans,” the Doctor comes to the aid of survivors of an attack by the Didonians and falls prey to the hazards of ancient Rome. In the second, “Attack Of The Cybermen“, a distress call gets the Doctor and Peri mixed up with diamond thieves and the cybermen.
