Breaking Bad – For Jesse’s own good

Breaking Bad

Well, there goes my body bag theory for the finale.

What we saw in the final scene of this episode was Walter White hovering on the line between saving his own ass and saving Jesse’s. Without words, Walter White’s reaction to Jane choking on her own vomit spoke volumes. He went from wondering what to do to save her, to wondering how he’d explain his being there to any paramedics, to deciding her death would be the best thing for everyone. Well, best for everyone other than her and her father, of course.

If waking up to Jane’s dead body doesn’t work to clean up Jess in a jiffy, I’m not sure anything ever will. The fact is, it could have the opposite reaction if Walter’s not on top of things with him right away. In his little bar talk with Jane’s father, we saw that Walter somewhat reluctantly considers Jesse to be family. We’ve already seen from the events of this series what Walt is prepared to do for family, so there’s no question he’ll be there to help keep Jesse on the right path.

A few points of interest:

  • Hank got dinner from Los Pollos Hermanos, the same chain of restaurants owned by Gus, the man who paid that sweet $1.2 million to Walter for the blue ice. Could it be that we were handed a clue that Hank is in on the drug dealing, which is why Gus isn’t so careful about meeting people at his places of business?
  • Finally we see the thought process Walt’s going through with regards to finally needing to figure out a way to spend his money without his family finding out. They’ve got a good idea going with funneling through Walter Jr.s website, but will Skyler be OK with keeping the money they get that’s over what they owe in hospital bills?
  • Walt still seems short on his goal number in terms of what he wanted to make in this business. I imagine he’ll be back to cooking, otherwise this show would get pretty boring next season.
  • Skyler didn’t have the C-section, meaning she’ll likely have a shorter recovery time. Remember what I said about her eventually cheating on Walter….

Next week’s the finale. Any guesses to how it ends?

No guesses on how it ends – this show has more twists than a pretzel.

The swimming pool was spooking me the entire episode, though.

The reflections off the water, even at night when Walt’s in the kitchen, you can see the reflection of the pool on the wall.

I was holding my breath, waiting for an explosion or fire or SOMETHING ! The shadows just rippled through the entire episode like some great harbinger of doom.

That aside, I liked John DeLancie as Jane’s father. One of the very few roles that I’ve liked Q in. And I didn’t like him as Q.

Also, Bob Odenkirk is just tremendous as Saul. Hell, everyone gives superlative performances on this show!

This show is just so good – it’ll be hard to keep up this quality through another season.

I think the 2 people in the body bags will be Jane and her father Don. I’m gonna guess that Don shows up to take Jane to rehab in the morning and finds out what happened and tries to call the cops and Jessie winds up killing him in a fight. So Jesse and Walt try to cover it up and move the bodies to Walts house while Skylers not there and the house blows up from the water heater either accidentally or Walt plans it to look like an accident. I’m probably wrong but thought I would take a wild guess. You never know whats going to happen on this show. It’s too bad we only have 1 episode left this year.

Why would the body bags be in front of Walter’s house, when Jane’s body is at Jesse’s place?

I’m just guessing that Walt and Jesse will take the bodies with them from the scene of the crime so nobody finds them there and they somehow end up at Walts house until they can figure out what to do next. Just a very wild guess based on how bad they are at problem solving.

I guess the rival dealers will come to Walt’s house and try to deal with him just like they did with whatshisname. The dude in the white clothes who got shot by that kid.

Walt barely manages to kill them using some kind of chemistry knowledge (using a gun wouldn’t be his style and it wouldn’t be that cool). I guess his son will find out about him and the dealing and next season they will work together to funnel the money back to their household income via the website.

Jesse will clean himself up and be available for business again. I don’t really think that Jane served her whole purpose but what do I know… she’s gone.
