And I was expecting a wedding on The Office

Jenna Fischer and John KrasinskiOkay, not really. Maybe earlier in the season, but it became pretty clear that wasn’t going to happen. What we did get was a reunion of Michael and Holly which reaffirmed that there aren’t two people on the planet more suited for one another. Certainly no fully sane person would be able to be completely happy with either of them.

Well, maybe Holly because she seems a bit more grounded, but who else is there for Michael? The picnic was a fun diversion, as it showed us how petty and immature Charles Miner could be (I knew it), how clueless Michael remains capable of being (I knew it) and that Pam and Jim are ready for what’s next (that one I didn’t know).

Let’s just get the ending revelation out of the way. While we heard nothing, literally, I think it’s safe to assume that Pam is pregnant. That they’ll have Charles Miner being a big crybaby at the volleyball game to thank for figuring this out is awkward, but even more importantly … are we going to find out who won that game?

I thought a nice ending would have been Angela finally coming into the game and just kicking ass all over Charles’s face. We would have had the satisfaction of seeing Charles not getting away with manipulating Pam out of the game, and it would have added fuel to that little spark moment when Dwight defended Angela from his friend.

I don’t think I want Dwight and Angela back together per se, but I like the sexual tension between them. And I think I like the idea of the new Kelly being the object of Andy’s affections. It was also nice to get a reminder that Andy has anger issues. Sure he went through a program, but it’s still going to be there.

If Pam is pregnant, that’ll change things dramatically for the show next season, assuming they don’t skip right over her pregnancy. She and Jim are not married yet, so what do they do about that? I’m sure Angela disapproves (as if she has room to talk *cough*whore*cough*).

A baby changes everything in someone’s lives, though it won’t change as much in the office, which is where the show lives. So I don’t think a baby would derail The Office. And it’s become as much the love story of Pam and Jim as anything else, so this is a nice natural progression for that love. And at least we know Pam has a couple of things the baby can grab onto if s/he is tripping, so that’s good.

Having Angela spike the ball on Charles as Dwight or somebody yells “Game point!” would have been a nice 10-second bit after the last commercial break. Instead, we got nothing.

Was Creed in this episode?
