Now that is how you close out a season, 30 Rock. I have to admit that I was getting a little nervous about tonight’s finale when I saw the previews showing off all the guests stars. I was pleasantly surprised, however, at how unobtrusive they were, mostly being saved for the final musical number.
Overall, I didn’t think this was the strongest episode of the season, but there were a lot of funny moments, and a huge, star studded musical number to close out the night. Can you really ask for more than that? You aren’t going to get that on My Name is Earl.
Aside from “Kidney now!” I think my favorite part of the episode was Liz and her sudden turn as a relationship guru. As Jack was so kind to point out, she had about as much sexual experience as a suburban 7th grader. As all things go with Liz, this didn’t end so well, with most of her advice coming back to bite her in the ass, especially when it came to her friends. I wish they had spent a little more time with this story, or even one of the others. For a finale, they were trying to shove a whole lot into this episode, including a bazillion musical guest stars, so most of the plots were a bit underdeveloped.
I realize they needed to find something for Tracy to do in this episode, but the high school story line just didn’t cut it for me. The only part that I enjoyed was the montage of Tracy crying from previous episodes. Also, I wish they had spent a little more time with Alan Alda. I’m glad we had some time with him last week, because I felt like he was pretty much an afterthought in this episode.
I guess if my one real complaint is that I was left wanting more, I shouldn’t whine. That should be a good thing, right?

My favorite quote was the comment Alan Alda’s character had when seeing Tracy crying about the chicken and the baby. Obviously, the writers were paying homage to one of the most horrific moments of M*A*S*H ever, and one of my favorite Alan Alda moments on that show.
Weakish episode that totally nosedived at the end. The musical number was a total disaster! The only good use of a singer was the “reveal” that Clay Aiken is Kenneth’s cousin. Sorry; the show needs some help. :(
I thought the episode was great and am not suprised SOME people here did not.
