Important lessons continue to be learned on 30 Rock. This week, we viewers learned that if you sexually harass in the work place, everything will magically turn out alright. At least it did for Liz in this episode.
The string of good episodes continued this week, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it has coincided with the end of the long string of weekly guest stars. There was a lot of discussion early in the season about 30 Rock turning into a Will & Grace clone, with a new celebrity popping in every week and the regular characters taking a back seat. Luckily, 30 Rock turned away from this trend. Heck, this week’s episode even featured all the characters on the show.
Liz is a great boss. Who wouldn’t want to work for someone who’s willing to trade sexual favors in return for her employees’ jobs? Of course when Liz is involved, nothing really turns out well. She tried to trade sexual favors, but the consultant that she was whoring herself out to didn’t understand what was happening. Poor Liz.
There were some fun B plots in this episode, as well, including Kenneth moonlighting as Jack’s assistant and Tracy and Jenna combining their crazy. It seems like in this season Jenna and Tracy have been teaming up a lot more than we’ve seen before, with great results. The show has really been using the two most outrageous characters in fun ways.
Here are some great quotes:
“Kenneth, you know how you told Tracy not to go into your bedroom? Well, naturally, we assumed that you were a serial killer, and as you can imagine, your bird is dead.” – Jenna, perfectly summing up Jenna and Tracy’s behavior in nearly every episode
“His claim suggests that you tried to barter sex for professional consideration. In the human resource world, we refer to that as being a filthy prostitute.” – HR guy, on Liz
“They may take my dignity, but they will never take our straws!” – Liz
“I’ve got some tricks up my sleeve” – Liz
“That’s my girl” – Jack
“No, Trix, the cereal. Some fell in my sleeve, it’s sticking in the fibers.” – Liz
I agree all the way, these last few weeks have been great. I would kill to see The Generalisimo again though, LOL!
