Frakkin’ Clack – A sneak peek at BSG’s return; a call with Moore and Eick

BSG sneak peek

Hey there, Frakkers. This week SciFi Wire has a sneak peek video of what looks like the opening scene of the first of the ten remaining episodes of Battlestar Galactica. It’s wonderfully shot and doesn’t really reveal anything other than Earth being scanned by both the humans and Cylons, neither finding signs of life.

Of course, the latest of the webisodes is “officially” online over on SciFi.com today as well. I don’t think there’s much surprise in who’s revealed as the killer, but the further information we get regarding the mysterious list is definitely interesting.

Earlier today, Ronald D. Moore and David Eick had a conference call with a bunch of us media folks, and they discussed Battlestar Galactica (duh) as well as some other projects they’re working on or have planned.

Moore mentioned that he’s most proud of the fact that “most” questions will be answered in the remaining episodes. He also mentioned that we will not need to wait until the finale to find out who the final Cylon is. Do we really care that much about it anymore anyway?

Speaking of the finale, it will have a three-hour running time, though not necessarily all on the same night. Not everything will be “revealed” in that episode, instead having things answered over the course of the entire run of episodes.

There’s no airdate for “The Plan” or Caprica yet, though Plan is in the can. Ron Moore mentioned that he is involved with the The Thing remake, and things are moving along as he’s working on a rewrite of the draft. He’ll be bouncing back and forth between Caprica and The Thing, he says.

As far as the webisodes go, Moore didn’t know that the webisodes were leaked. He didn’t seem all that bothered by it but he was surprised.

Moore said he does read some reviews online and will look at some commentary as the show’s airing, to see what people have to say. Hey Ron, come on over to our live-blog/chats when the show returns!

Someone asked Moore if, out of all the theories he’s read out there, has anyone been right? He said there are definitely some spot-on theories, but he hasn’t seen anyone who’s nailed the whole thing down.

That’s pretty much all of the juicy stuff from the call. Eick sure is a relatively quiet guy….

I’m just plain damn giddy with excitement. If the purpose of the Webisodes was to get us excited, they most certainly have succeeded in my case.

I’m also both glad and sad to hear that CC will be doing Chats for BSG… Excited because I’ve enjoyed them thus far, but unfortunately, it doesn’t look like I’ll get to watch the show live, or participate in the chats :(

I ended up spoiling myself on the leaked webisodes, including episode 10. Logically, as 9 wasn’t leaked, it would be the key episode. It was nice, though, to be able to skip the Underworld prequel commercials (though it looks as if SciFi has finally moved on).

Re: clip – Was it me, or did the Revelations Planet not seem so bad? Clear water, things growing. My point is, it could be worse, no?

Final Cylon, Oh I want to know, but for me, there are other burning questions. Like Starbuck – I think one of the “clues” excluded her from being a cylon. Narcho said, “No one even knows what you are anymore.” I think this scene takes place after the final is revealed, so that begs the question – What is Starbuck?

I am beside myself with excitement. Part of what has made this show so much fun for me is the online community. I look forward to reading all the many posts. To quote Seelix, “Let’s get this carpool started!”

Hey there bsgfan

Thought I would chime in and share your excitement about BSG. You are such an energetic, loyal fan, and set a great example of how a fan should conduct themself. So good that I made a promise to do my very best to never lose my temper online again (LOL).

You know my wife purchased for me a 52″ tv and entertainment system for our family room (for Christmas). She really bought it so she could watch Disney movies with our son later, but for me, (evil laugh) I’m going to watch BATTLESTAR with the divine GRACE PARK all over that big screen! Whoa!

The master stroke was getting the wife to think that’s why you wanted the TV too!

I apologize to you Dorv, for the harsh manner in which I spoke to you earlier. I committed the unpardonable sin of rudeness. The problem is with me and my thin skin, which can be an aggravating Achilles heel to me.

I still think the planet is Earth of the future and they have to unlock something to get to the Earth they want…

The Earth of their past, our today! They will end up going back in time to the day Obama takes office and wonder why he isn’t white skinned.

That’s a joke for the fact the whole show has been white besides one useless character from Hero. :)

Huh, I didn’t notice major staring characters like Athena, Dee, Gaeta, and Tory were white

Olmos (Adama/Hotdog) are Latino. But why be bothered about the ethnic make-up of this fantastic show anyways?

January 7, 2009 at 4:12 PM

….and one cylon model is black.

Just over a week left to wait!

May I call it now that I think that Adama’s logs will make up part of the future sacred scrolls?

I love it that you americans always have to make everything about race.

Hopefully in 200 years all the minorities will bicker about the fact that the whole cast of most of the shows are all latino because 80% of US citizens will be latino then, won’t they? :-)

Yet another post by Sebastian taking a swipe at Americans. I, for one, do not appreciate your bitter derision.

With the new dvd release I’m doing a BSG marathon, just to be fully updated for Friday. I am currently at the end of the second episode. I am elated to see there are a number of excellent deleted scenes on these dvd’s, of Sharon, Boomer, and the eights.

Am I supposed to say SPOILERS?

One touching scene has Boomer entering a room where a (lovely) eight, Six, and a Leoben model are discussing plans. Boomer, in effect, apologizes to the three for siding with Cavel on altering the raiders’s anatomy. Boomer appeared to be such a torn and unhappy soul as she struggles to explain the reasons behind her actions….Like a hand from a churning sea, reaching for a rope….But Six, seeing her turmoil, walks to her, then embraces and forgives her. Boomer softly thanks Six, kisses her, and leaves the room.

This scene (brilliantly played by Grace park) was an intensely revealing insight into the depths of Boomer’s feelings at this period in her tragic life. How could they have cut this out. It was an injustice to have deleted this and let say….Baltar and his harem stay in. Of course, These episodes, as well as the remaining, are cast in stone and long written….no use hoping to influence any changes anymore….but I can still complain about it.
