OK, I’m going to need some lesbian opinions on this one. Or someone familiar with the lesbian community. Or, really, anyone who wants to offer an opinion.
I’ve been watching The L Word to get caught up for when season six drops on January 18. I mentioned in a recent See Jane Clack column that The L Word girls really seem to have a lot of sex.
At the time, I figured it was just my tired-mom-of-a-teen-and-tween talking, because well, when you’re working your ass off to keep the mortgage paid and food on the table and everything else, sex generally isn’t the first thing on your mind. You’re too damn tired!
But, clearly, I’m missing out. As I get further and further into the show, the lesbians don’t seem to be slowing down at all. Aside from the flow chart with every lesbian in the city leading back to Shane, it appears that now everyone and their mother is sleeping with everyone else. And when I say “mother,” I’m talking about Alice’s mom, who just admitted that she had a dalliance with Shane herself. There are no grandmas on the show yet, but when they appear, I’m sure they’ll be getting horizontal with the lesbians as well. Or vertical up against a wall. Or something.
And then you’ve got Jenny and Marina doing it behind Tim’s back … well, they were doing it behind his back until he walked in on them awkwardly. Hey, at least Jenny and Marina managed to do it somewhere other than a bar bathroom. That Jenny; she’s got some serious identity issues. And Tim certainly seems to be a straight-up guy. Anyone else might have just jumped into the middle of the fray when he found them together, but he just turned and walked away.
The L Word is debunking any myth out there that women just want to cuddle. They want more. Lots more. Wherever they can get it. And the rest of us are missing out!
What do you think? Is The L Word realistic? Are real-life lesbians having sex any and everywhere they can get it?

Funny question. Don’t you have to be a lesbian to answer that?
I guess you’ll get more reactions when you make the question into a poll.
But then all those hardcore heteros might answer and falsify your results.
All in all a strange question. Do we really need a reason for girls making out on TV? Isn’t TV, just as the movies, there to show us a better, brighter world, where lesbians of all colors and forms can have everywhere they want…
And where we can watch them doing it?
