Please don’t get me wrong. I know that the title of this post my make it seem like I don’t like the show Bones, or perhaps that I don’t like Booth and Brennan. In fact, I am a big fan of the show. I was so upset by Zack’s guilt at the end of last season that it was hard for me to start watching again this Fall. Yet, this season has proven to be a lot of fun to watch, as have all of the other seasons.
But one of the things I’ve noticed this season is that the writers are trying to push Booth and Brennan together with constant yammering about relationships. The push is harder this season than it has been in the past. Even the infamous holiday kiss from “Santa in the Slush” pales compared to this season’s attempts to force the dynamic duo into a romantic relationship.
While I can appreciate that the two attractive leads have been heading down this road since the pilot episode, lately, I have been thinking that I don’t really want them to get together. Bones and Booth work really well together as an investigative team. They also have a true friendship; their loyalty and protectiveness is admirable.
What they don’t really have together is… zing. I don’t get any chemistry or romantic attraction there. In fact, if I had to guess, I’d say that Emily Duschanel is probably into women. Her scenes with Angela pack more sexual heat than her scenes with Booth do. Now, wouldn’t it be interesting to investigate that relationship?
Remember when Booth was sleeping with Cam? They make a good couple and have some heat between them. Why can’t they be an item, and why can’t Bones and Booth continue to be a good team without any romantic entanglements? I admit that with regard to House, one of the things I am interested in is seeing whether House and Cuddy will get together. However, perhaps that has more to do with the formula of the show and less to do with anything else. Bones is a solid show with interesting cases and plots and likable characters and endearing subplots.
And the two leads don’t have enough sexual chemistry to pull off a romantic relationship. Or am I missing something?

Wow… I’ve always liked Booth and Bones together as an idea. I had hoped we’d never see it until the very end, but it looks like it will happen sooner rathe than later.
I don’t see the sexual tension there like you, but I do think that there’s enough emotional subtext to make up for it. I love how one reacts anytime the other is in peril.
I too always thought there was something there. I can’t explain why, they are very different, but the relationship stuff works. The creator even said there was no plans for them to hook up until they started doing the show and seeing how well the actors got along.
If you can’t enjoy it then you really should stop watching now, they will only get closer.
I like what they have now, but I dunno how well a coupling would work. Oh well, looks like they’ll go there by midseason.
They have a definite chemistry, and if it fails to come through you can blame the writers. Listen to one of the DVD commentaries with the two actors – they’re constantly laughing at each other and finishing each other’s sentences. They sound like an old happy married couple.
I think there has been definite chemistry between Booth and Bones from the very first. However, I think this season it has been downplayed too much.
I never got a vibe from Booth and Cam at all the way I do from Booth and Brennan.
It’s time for them to admit their attraction. It could only heat things up as far as I’m concerned. And I’m looking forward to the heat.
Have no chemistry, that is absurd! from the very beginning the two B&B heated up the screen. The first season; hell eve the pilot you could see the fire. I hope that this seaon they get together, there are still many possible to come from a new relationship and how it affects their work. I dont think that it will be the end of the show because so many people who watch the show want them to be together.They’re complete opposites and it would be fun to see how they handle it.

I LOVE their dynamic has partners but NEVER as lovers. I prefer Sully/Temperance and Cam/Seeley.
But Angela/Brennan does sound hot!!!
