With its “Casting Clack” post, CliqueClack brings you a summary of the TV casting news released throughout the week, be it the addition of a series regular, a new recurring cast member, a guest star, or even someone making a cameo.

Be warned, the casting news after the jump may contain slight spoilers about the roles the actors will play.

This week, we have casting news for the following TV series: CSI: Miami, Desperate Housewives, Dirty Sexy Money, Gary Unmarried, Gossip Girl, Grey’s Anatomy, How I Met Your Mother, Kath & Kim, Law & Order: SVU, Medium, Prison Break, Smallville, The Big Bang Theory and Ugly Betty.

  • Sean Combs, aka Diddy, will battle it off with Horatio and co. in two episodes of CSI: Miami set to air in early 2009. Before knowing more about Combs’s role on the show, I was sure he would play one of the suspects since most of the famous people who guest star on one of the CSI shows end up being the bad guys. Turns out Combs will play a federal prosecutor. [Source: TV Guide Online]
  • Todd Grinnell will play a plastic surgeon on Desperate Housewives. The actor is said to perform surgery on one of the Wisteria Lane residents. Could it be Gabrielle? We have seen how the woman is not happy with her current soccer-mom looks so maybe she will decide to go under the knife to get back her model body. [Source: The Ausiello Files]
  • Samaire Armstrong will reprise her role for the upcoming Thanksgiving-themed episode of Dirty Sexy Money. Donna Mills and Rena Sofer will also appear in this extra special episode.  [Source: The Ausiello Files]
  • Funny guy Matthew Lillard will make Jay Mohr’s life more miserable in episode 13 of Gary Unmarried. Not only does Mohr’s Gary have to cope with ex-wife Allison but he’ll now have to also deal with his ex-brother-in-law played by Lillard. [Source: TV Guide Online]
  • Dexter‘s Desmond Harrington will play Bart Bass’s younger brother in a Gossip Girl episode set to air in January. Ausiello says that the character will come to the Upper East Side to help the Bass family go through tough times. Could this be related to the fact an important character is set to die in an upcoming episode? [Source: The Ausiello Files]
  • Kevin McKidd, who’s appeared in five episodes of Grey’s Anatomy as Major Owen Hunt, is officially joining the cast as a series regular. So expect some official McLovin’ in Cristina’s future. [Source: People]
  • Jeffrey Dean Morgan is set to appear in at least five episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. It means that Izzie will be seeing his ghost for a while longer. Many GA fans, including Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello, think that Morgan’s presence may mean that Izzie is getting a brain tumor. How else can his presence be explained? [Source: The Ausiello Files]
  • Kim Kardashian will appear as a magazine cover of herself in an episode of How I Met Your Mother set to air in January. She, along with Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt and Kendra Wilkinson, will appear in a funny scene during which Marshall tries to find a quiet place to read a magazine and do something that can only be done while sitting on a white throne. The three actors will take life on the magazine Marshall is trying to read and interact with him. Hilarious, no? [Source: People]
  • If you are one of the very few people who watch NBC’s Kath & Kim, you may be interested to know that Pamela Anderson will make a cameo in an upcoming episode. This gives me yet another reason not to watch the NBC series. [Source: NBC via The Futon Critic]
  • In other Kath & Kim casting news, Maya Rudolph will play a spiritual guide trying to help Phil lose weight. This role could provide some good laughs but what may be funnier to watch is Kath having a girl crush on Rudolph’s character. [Source: TV Guide Online]
  • Battlestar Galactica‘s Michael Trucco will appear in the December 9 episode of Law & Order: SVU. Ryan Dunn and Kelly Hu will also appear in that episode. [Source: TV Guide Online]
  • Michael J. Fox’s wife, Tracy Pollan, has been tapped to appear in a three-episode arc on Medium. Pollan’s character, Caitlyn, will try to convince Allison to come work for a corporation. [Source: The Ausiello Files]
  • Kathleen Quinlan will appear in at least four episodes of Prison Break. Her first appearance will be in the mid-season finale on December 22. Her character is said to be a kickass member of the Company and that she may be so powerful that even the General answers to her! Someone higher than the General in the Company foodchain? Her appearance will surely make the General and Michael’s team uneasy. [Source: Entertainment Weekly]
  • Speaking of Prison Break, Muse Watson will reprise his role of Charles Westmoreland in the December 15 episode of the series. Not to worry, PB is not going more sci fi than it already is (how else can you explain all the inconsistencies in the series?). Westmoreland will appear to Michael while he is undergoing surgery. Westmoreland made a good connection with Michael during the first season of the show. So his presence, even in dream, will surely help Michael make amends and/or decisions that will affect following episodes. [Source: Entertainment Weekly]
  • Tori Spelling will reprise her role of Linda Lake, the Daily Planet’s gossip columnist, on Smallville. If you recall, Linda is one of the few characters who knows Clark’s secret. Will she reveal Clark’s secret in one of her columns? [Source: The Ausiello Files]
  • Sara Rue will appear in a few episodes of CBS’s The Big Bang Theory. Her first appearance will be on November 17. Sources say that she’ll play a doctor who cannot keep her hands off Leonard! Do you think this pairing is a good idea for the show? Let your voice be heard by commenting below. [Source: UGO]
  • Bernadette Peters will guest star in at least one episode of ABC’s Ugly Betty as a magazine mogul named Jodie Papadakis. [Source: LA Times]
