(Season 5, Episode 7)
As Jim tells us, the results of the customer service survey are incredibly important for their bonuses. But we already know that Jim and Dwight are two of the top salespeople in the department. Why on earth would they title an episode “Customer Survey”? Well, just look at Kelly’s face up there and think about that.
More importantly, I want to know if Angela is certifiable. What the hell she’s got going on with this engagement to Andy while she’s still clearly interested in Dwight is pretty damned disturbing. As much as Andy and Dwight prove themselves every episode to be out of their freaking minds, especially in their recent college feud, it all comes down to Angela. That bitch is crazy!
I may be misremembering, and I’m sure you’ll all correct me, but I’m pretty sure Andy and Angela haven’t been intimate yet. So what is it about her that wraps crazy men around her finger? Sure, it’s easy to imagine that she’s a wildcat in the bedroom when she gets out of the office and after all of her cats are fed, but is that enough to put up with her coldness and lucrative demands?
At this point, I’m just not really sure what she’s after. She seems to have at least some genuine feelings for Andy, and appears touched at times with his gestures and sacrifices for her. But she’s clearly harboring strong feelings for Dwight. And then tonight, she pushes Andy into booking Schrute Farms for their wedding, and I’m lost again. I can only imagine what a mess this is going to turn into if you can take Pam and Jim’s overnight stay there as any indication.
But what will Angela do? Bang Dwight in the bridal suite in the tent right before her wedding? After? For a religiously conservative woman, she’s not being very “proper” about this whole thing. It’s intriguing enough that it’s almost frustrating that it’s always such a minor storyline.
The mini-bluetooths in Pam and Jim’s ear were used very effectively, both for humor (Dwight: “I’ve caught Jim talking to himself several times today. What a loser. Get a friend, loser!”) and for dramatic purpose (Pam encouraged to stay in New York if she wants to be serious in art). I remain confident that their love will see them through, but it’s always come down to Pam’s ambition versus Jim’s lack thereof. Will Jim step up in time to keep her? I’d like to think so.
Office Memos
I don’t think Andy loves Angela. He is in love with being engaged and planning a wedding. There are MANY people (mostly women) out there who are in the same situation. That’s why it doesn’t matter what she does to him. He will put up with it.
