I love Funny or Die videos. They’re always spot-on with the characters and writing. Earlier today, they posted a video featuring Ron Howard, Andy Griffith, and Henry Winkler in their Opie, Andy, Richie Cunningham and The Fonz roles. They’ve got a few things to say about the upcoming Presidential election.
It brings to mind a few other classic TV characters we’d like to see opine on the election, and I’m sure they’d have a lot to say about it: Meathead and Archie Bunker, Louie De Palma and Rev. Jim, Sam and Diane, Hawkeye and B.J., the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and MacGyver? He could probably offer some great DIY tips for navigating the polls.
More ideas and the Funny or Die video after the jump…
Or how about having Billy Crystal reprise his Jodie character from Soap? Or Vicki Lawrence as Mama? Gary Coleman and Todd Bridges from Diff’rent Strokes? Or Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari in their Bosom Buddies roles?
Are you listening, Funny or Die? Well, while they get to work on those, enjoy this video, and tell us which classic TV characters YOU would like to see clacking on the election.
I’d like to see Al Swearingen and Trixie have a nice discussion about the election. Al would be the only one talking of course. If Trixie were to start talking Al would kindly ask her to stop and get back to work.
Thanks for the Obama political ad, it’s really great to see you guys continuing to shill for the Marxist in any way possible as long as there’s even the slimmest thread of connection to television. Maybe next you could just write an article about how much you love Obama since you own a TV. Hey, that’s a connection!
I know you can’t provide anything similar for McCain since practically all of Hollywood is up Obama’s ass. Hollywood’s a good fit for him though as they’re also pretenders who lie for a living and speak on subjects they have no real expertise in. Come to think of it, Barry’s exactly like them.
Dude, we would’ve posted it regardless of what candidate was mentioned. Relax.
Easy to say when you know something like this would probably never be done for a non-liberal candidate. Your words are disingenuous at best when considering your track record both here and that other site.
“Easy to say when you know something like this would probably never be done for a non-liberal candidate”
That is so not true. Just this year there was this lovely little conservative slanted film out called “An American Carol”
I recall in recent years an online video of multiple celebrities endorsing a pro-life subject (I don’t remember if it was a proposition, candidate or other subject) so don’t try and play the whole “Hollywood only supports the liberal” card.
Well now, I must be sooooo wrong. I mean a single non-liberal film and one online video supporting life! How could I have been so blind?
What’s your next argument? Hitler was a good man because one time he gave a cupcake to a puppy? Your attempt at a rebuttal of my statement is laughable. I never spoke in absolutes, but you read it that way, didn’t ya?
Next time read ALL the words in a sentence.
You merely said “this would probably never be done for a non-liberal canidate”
I was then just pointing out that it had already been done.
Never assumed you were speaking in absolutes, just pointing out that your ignorance is quite clear.
Franklin, quick, without looking it up on wikipedia – define marxist!
Wikipedia?!! If that’s your idea of information gathering you might as well ask your dog, it’s about as accurate and complete.
Obama’s marxist in the sense that he’s playing the overused class card worn out by the Democrats. He’s wanting to spread the wealth and make socialistic changes to our country. He generates support for this by demonizing those he calls wealthy (of which he’s one) attempting to create a sense of victimization in those he speaks to.
Between that, ACORN registering the dead and fictional to vote for him and the resounding endorsement he’s gotten from the country of Iran, this should be a landslide victory for socialism.
The next time you have a question about something I say, do the work yourself, although you already knew exactly what I was referring to. Here’s an assignment for you, Scott: Quick, without looking in a mirror…define asshole!
Remember the Democrat motto: Vote Early – Vote Often!
wow, harsh man, thanks for calling me an asshole.
read a little more into the ACORN stuff, stop repeating talking points and educate yourself.
Your snarkiness in your reply begged for a response in-kind, so if you don’t want “harsh” make sure you don’t act like an asshole. And by “asshole” I mean purporting to be more informed than someone with whom you’re communicating simply by assumption and inference. Save that shit for whatever gaming forums you waste your evenings on.
I believe your last line should have been addressed to yourself. I’ve read plenty about both main candidates and neither is very desirable. I attack those that support Obama because of their fanatical, religious support of such an obviously dangerous and completely inexperienced puff-piece of a human being whose past remains a mystery by his own doing and whose policy proposals make Bill Clinton look like Ronald Reagan.
McCain supporters are nearly as misguided, but generally not as fanatical. They’re less fun to deride. You guys, on the other hand, have many large and easy to push buttons. It’s understandable though as the overall education level for Democrat voters is a good deal lower than that of Republican voters.
Okay, perhaps that last sentence was unfair. While the education levels are as I stated, the Republican sheeple aren’t any smarter at picking a candidate than the Democrat sheeple are.
If there were ever a truly viable 3rd party candidate running, and if sheeple could see beyond their myopic view of only 2 parties, we would see a landslide victory of the kind that would force the 2 existing behemoths to rethink their fundamental ideologies.
I care not a fig for what anyone in Hollywood has to say about the election. I believe you Keith that it would have been posted regardless of the candidate mentioned – I just tire of the Hollywood/Obama love affair being shoved down our throats. That’s all.
Same here, I’m just far less diplomatic about it, but that’s no surprise to anyone.

I just like seeing Opie and Andy, and Richie and the Fonz back together.
man… a few cranky people here. Why can’t you just enjoy the piece for what it is?
Too close to the election. I hope to regain my sense of humor someday. Say a prayer for me Akbar ;)
If I believed in any religion I would say a prayer, but unfortunately I don’t.
However I will put my faith that as a decent human being you are (even if we disagree on many things outside of fandom) that you will regain your sense of humor and be able to laugh at anything that has merit.
To me the merit in this is not it’s political slant (although Ron did open with that he has voted across party lines in the past and will continue to do so, that went along way for me) but the fact that Ron was humble enough that he would step back for a laugh and reprise two roles that made him famous.

Alright, you guys, if I have to pull this thread over…
He started it!
