Debating on the debate? Here are some other viewing choices for this evening

A&E

A&E

Another week, another Presidential debate. With 20 days left until we vote the next President into the White House, the debate season reaches its peak with the fourth and final meeting between Senators Barack Obama and John McCain. Taking place at Hofstra University in New York and moderated by Bob Schieffer this meeting will apparently feature the two candidates sipping tea while they discuss their families and favorite knitting styles.

Thing is, you can’t bring yourself to watch another one of these again. The first two were sort of blah and you don’t see much difference with this third debate. And with the major networks and cable news facilities all covering the gab-fest you are at a loss as to what you can do after 9:00 PM this evening. Oh, you could probably read, watch a DVD or, heaven forbid, have a conversation with your significant other, but your heart just isn’t in it.

Well, bucko, perk up! We here at CliqueClack don’t want you to be deprived of quality television watching. So, after the break, we have compiled a small list of other shows to watch while Obama and McCain talk dress patterns.

  • Over on FOX is Game 5 of the National League Championship Series featuring the Fighting Phillies against Joe Torre’s Los Angeles Dodgers. Since Tampa Bay is beating the stuffing out of the Boston Red Sox in their playoff series the National League Championship is the more interesting of the two.
  • If you’re a fan of Boston Legal and your cable provider actually has ION on their schedule, you can catch two episode of the series. The first episode features the return of Freddie Prinze Jr. as Donny Crane while the second hour guest stars Carl Reiner.
  • Like some international futbol? Then Telemundo is the answer to your Debate blues. It’s Canada versus Mexico in an elimination round. Don’t understand Spanish? As long as you understand ‘Goaaaaaalllllll!!!!’ you should be just fine.
  • A&E has two season premieres to keep you occupied. At 9:00 PM EST is the fifth season premiere of Dog the Bounty Hunter. That’s followed-up by the second season premiere of Parking Wars, which takes place at the Parking Authority of Philadelphia. Hey, remember when A&E actually meant Arts and Entertainment? How the times have changed.
  • Have a hankering for some pre-season basketball? Over on ESPN2 it’s the Milwaukee Bucks versus the Golden State Warriors. Here’s the catch: the exhibition takes place in Guangzhou, China.
  • If you have a craving for a deep, emotional, women’s movie then Lifetime may be the answer to your troubles with the telefilm It Was One of Us. It’s the story of college roommates reuniting and discovering deep, personal secrets about one another. Lord, sounds like a porno.
  • Over on Bravo you can say your final good-byes to Project Runway as season 5 ends and the show prepares to move to Lifetime.
  • TV Land, a network that has seen so much channel shift I’m surprised it hasn’t fallen off the cable schedule, presents a new Myths and Legends. In this installment we learn if Mr. Ed was really a zebra and if Charlie Manson really tried out for The Monkees.
  • Comedy Central premiers David Alan Grier’s Chocolate News. The previews look good, but I wonder how much comparison there will be to The Chappelle Show.
  • SciFi offers new episodes of Ghost Hunters and Destination Truth, which seem to be the same show. At least that’s what the commercials make it look like. The only difference is that the Ghost Hunters night vision lenses are green while Truth’s are orange.
  • Finally, if you have some extra cash lying around you can head over to QVC for QVC Presents: 15th Annual FFANY Shoes on Sale. Actually, the sale is for a good cause as profits will benefit breast-cancer reasearch and education. So, pick me up a pair of slingbacks, won’t you?

I absolutely love Parking Wars. I love watching these idiot who break the law get so angry.

What a bunch of dumbasses there are (apparently in Philadelphia).

N.B. I used to live there while in college
