“We were trying to be better than God.” – Angela Petrelli to Nathan and Tracy

This season of Heroes is finally starting to come together for me — a little. Up until now, it’s just created more questions, but tonight’s episode answered a few of them and moved the story forward in a concrete way. My thoughts:

Claire. It’s good to see her becoming more involved in the hero business, but she shouldn’t trust Noah/H.R.G., as he suggests. It’s tough, since he’s her dad and all, but I’m with Sylar on the idea that Noah/H.R.G. is using Claire. Things could have gone horribly wrong if she’d been sucked into the black hole created by Stephen Canfield, the Level 5 escapee. At this point, she doesn’t have the aggression to take out targets, even though that was her intention. But she’s certainly getting there, thanks to the anger Sylar infused into her when he cut her head open.

Tracy. Well, well, well. So now we know there were three girls born — Tracy, Niki and Barbara, who were all given synthetic abilities by Dr. Zimmerman, who worked for The Company at the time. He also gave Nathan his ability to fly. I can understand Nathan’s outrage with Angela, when he turns on her and chides her for allowing humans to be used as guinea pigs.

Angela. She apologizes to Tracy for messing with her DNA, and adds that the formula was divided and hidden, “so it would never happen again.” Now someone wants that formula to resurrect the program. You know, if you don’t want something to happen again, why not just destroy it? Just sayin’… Also, I’m guessing that Angela was dreaming when she found Tracy, Nathan and Peter dead in the hallway, and then we saw her mute at the desk. Not dreaming in the sense that she was asleep, but dreaming in that those thoughts were put into her head.

Mohinder. Eh, he’s just kind of bugging me with his new cocoon/Spider-man fetish. And now it appears that Maya is in serious danger from Mohinder’s new powers. It’s creepy when she calls him a monster, and he says, “I wish you hadn’t said that.”

Hiro and Ando. I’m guessing that Hiro will go back in time and un-stab Ando…? And does this officially end their bromance? Probably not.  Definitely a WTF moment, though.

Maury Parkman. I believe that was him at the end, talking to Mr. Petrelli…? So, it appears that Mr. Petrelli is running things from his bed. Because Maury tells him, “I messed with his head (talking about Nathan). I gave him visions of Linderman like you asked, and now he thinks he’s doing God’s work.” He goes on to say that Daphne is spreading the word, and “We’re building an army, just like you asked. Whatever you say goes, Mr. Petrelli.”

Eric Doyle. This is the new character who forced Meredith to kiss him at the creepy pasta dinner near the end of the episode. He looks like he could shake things up, and I have a call in to NBC to interview David Lawrence, the actor who portrays him. Hopefully, he’ll be able to offer a few clues as to where all this is headed.

As usual, there was a lot going on in this episode. Your thoughts?

Is there anyone to root for anymore? For me, no.
Is there anyone to like anymore? For me, no.

Eh… I like Daphine. I like Matt (though I want him back in the US). I like Claire. I’m beginning to like Sylar. I actually kinda like Tracey.

I like Peter’s Irish Girlfriend (Oh wait). I like Elle (Oh wait).

So, you know, watcha gonna do? Take the good and take the bad. I’ve liked this season for the most part, but that’s probably just in comparison to last year.

Where the hell did Elle go anyway?

O.K – I do like Claire, I hope she grows up soon though. I guess I’m a bit peeved that Peter seems so unstable. And yes, Elle was fun, but where is she? And I am quoting someone else but it’s true -“Mohinder hinders the show”.

As this episode unfolded it was easy to see the foreshadowing that Arthur was behind Pinehearst, the mind version of Linderman and Daphne’s theft of ½ the formula. I didn’t see the Maury part coming though because I thought he was trapped in his own mind still.

And more importantly, I can’t figure out who is the good guy – Angela or Arthur? Or is it a matter of the lesser of two evils? Who do we cheer for? Who are the real villains?

The Claire storyline was pretty boring except for revealing The Puppet Master (Eric Doyle). I have a feeling we are going to see much more of him.

And Mohinder transformation is just getting gross. However, I’m afraid of what he’s going to do to Nathan and Tracy next week.

Better than anything else we’ve seen this season. That’s my opinion of this ep. Still, season 3 is lagging very much compared to season 1.

Mohinder continues to be the most idiotic character on the show. I’m not really digging the whole cocoon/spiderweb thing going on with him.

The new baddie, Doyle does look interesting. But I’m still not feeling the groove for Claire’s biological mom.

Claire with a taser? You serious? Claire really just isn’t a very interesting character power-wise. Maybe she should hook up with Mohinder or the Doc and get a synthetic power added to her arsenal.

Here’s hoping next week is better than the last.

Jesus Christ… watching this show feels like watching a dear relative slowly dying in his deathbed. You love him, but you know his time has come to say goodbye.
There are so many things wrong with this show. Too many characters, no grasping story, bringing in AWESOME actors just to have them die in the same episode or bury them for 3 or 4 episodes in a row. Characters making decisions so idiotic a newborn could point it out to them.
And then the little frictions that drive me nuts. Just off the top of my head: Adam, coming out of the coffin freshly shaven (WTF?). Wasted hilarious opportunity to have him look like a Wookie because he couldn’t trim his hair.
They are not even trying to come up with anything similar to logic. Smallville is doing a better job.
I f’ing love this show, but they are butchering it. I cannot share your opinion that it finally all comes together…

I really don’t like Heroes anymore. I used to like Mohinder, nice normal guy, but now he’s Spiderman and the Fly combined. Eww. Matt is boring. Daphne is a cutie, but she’s supposed to end up with Matt? Why not Ando? And I agree about Adam. He should have had a beard and longer hair. And smell. Maya is so irritating!!! Last season she was whiny, always crying, and could barely speak English. This year she’s speaking perfect English, rarely uses her power, which last year always happened, and where did she get all those clothes? Is Mohinder her sugar daddy?

I do think last night’s episode was better by comparison to the previous episodes this season but that’s not saying much. For sure, they need to stop introducing new characters. Don’t we have enough to keep track of already?

I agree with other posters that I don’t know who to root for anymore. Maybe that’s the point, that there is good and evil in all of us, that circumstances can push us in directions that are against our basic nature. However, having every character do a flip-flop this season is too big of an adjustment for me.

Good vs. Evil, Angel vs. Monster is another thing I don’t get. Why does it have to be black and white? How about all the shades of grey?! I understand: This is a comic-world we are watching. But in the Marvel-universe (as an example) heroes and villains are much more layered.

I think Mohinder has had a super ability all along that he was unaware of. He should be listed in the company files as Super Stupid, Ability: screw up any well thought out plan. These bursts of incredible stupidity include but aren’t limited to injecting himself with an untested serum. I was rooting for Maya to take him out, but it didn’t happen, damnit.

All the mind games are interesting, but hard to keep up with. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.
