Tonight on the tube: Sarah Silverman and South Park return

Comedy Central

Comedy Central

8:00p/7:00 Central

  • Tyra surprises the girls on The CW’s America’s Next Top Model by scheduling one-on-one photo shoots with each of them. Meanwhile Chris Rock’s brother Tony surprises us all by apparently doing the same kind of comedy as his brother. Via hidden cameras and man-on-the-street interviews, he hopes to show the foibles of humanity on his new MyNetwork TV show, The Tony Rock Project.
  • Actually, if he wants to show the worst of humanity, all he needs to do is spend a day in the world of The New Adventures of Old Christine on CBS. You can expect jealousy tonight even as Barb’s profile in a business magazine boosts business at the gym. Then, Gary Unmarried finds himself in full support of Allison’s engagement to Dr. Krandall when he learns spousal support will end when they wed.
  • Mike partners with Zoe south of the border on NBC’s Knight Rider while the Pushing Daisies crack team of investigators on ABC trace a missing girl to a circus where folks keep winding up dead. No problem for Ned, though.
  • On Bones a human torso with breast implants leads Brennan and Booth down one path of assumptions which may prove less accurate than assumed.

9:00p/8:00 Central

  • In completely unrelated programming, BBC America has a special exploring a Sex Change Soldier as he goes through the process of bringing out his inner woman.
  • On NBC’s The Biggest Loser, a surprise weigh-in sends one family member packing. Or, on Project Runway, as we begin the two-part finale, we’re looking for everybody but one to be sent packing. The second part airs next week.
  • MyNetwork TV continues to explore unique and innovative programming with their new home video show World’s Funniest Moments. And it has Arsenio Hall hosting. So it’s nothing like that show on ABC.
  • Reality runs rampant this hour with as the History Channel’s MonsterQuest tackles the giant squid, Sci Fi’s Ghost Hunters seek the supernatural in an old plantation and the Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters tackle the myths behind blind driving.
  • Showtime keeps it simple, examining the past week of the National Football League, as well as looking ahead on Inside the NFL. And later, at 9:30p/8:30 Central, Dog the Bounty Hunter celebrates Halloween early for A&E.
  • In scripted fare, Criminal Minds rips a story straight from the headlines as they investigate allegations of child abuse at an underground cult headed up by guest star Luke Perry (what, too good for 90210 but good enough for Minds?).
  • Over on ABC’s Private Practice, Addison and Sam stage a coup in order to save the hospital from bankruptcy. But if you’d rather go funny this hour, FOX has improved ever so slightly the quality of their Wednesday night comedy by doubling up new episodes of ‘Til Death in place of the mercifully murdered Do Not Disturb.
  • And for the few of you able to see it, Friday Night Lights continues its exclusive DirecTV run.

10:00p/9:00 Central

  • The interior decorators of Bravo’s Top Design must tackle an eco-friendly office. Or you can catch MTV’s variation “Survivor-lite” with a new The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Island. Now featuring more attitude and foul language!
  • The team behind Sons of Anarchy is celebrating a quick renewal for a new season on FX. Tonight, Jax is forced to step up and handle a situation around Piney’s old war buddy when Clay is detained.
  • If you believe that dinosaurs weren’t real, then you have a choice between shows tonight dealing with fictional creatures. The History Channel keeps exploring the world of dinosaurs with a new Jurassic Fight Club while Sci Fi’s Destination Truth examines Issie (that’s a Japanese Nessie) and Icelandic elves tonight.
  • Alternately, TV Land keeps exploring pop culture Myths & Legends. Tonight they investigate if Marilyn Monroe was really murdered, if Ozzy Osbourne really bit the head off a bat, Susan Lucci’s lineage and more! Spike TV sticks with people hitting people by offering up a new The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rampage vs. Team Forrest.
  • Wendy’s John Lennon projecte begins to consume her life while Nico struggles to “Give Peace a Chance” with the new CEO. See what I did there? Because … And I … Well, Lipstick Jungle is all new on NBC tonight.
  • A Darling disaster and death are reported on the news in the second new Dirty Sexy Money of the season over on ABC. The third CSI: NY on CBS has Mac looking at the murder of an air marshal on board his plane.
  • But most importantly of all, the foul-mouthed punks of South Park return with the back half of their 12th season. Tonight, they address the problem with China. Okay, actually it’s just Cartman and Butters but that should be enough, right? How many Chinese can there be anyway? This is followed by the long-awaited return of The Sarah Silverman Program, featuring Sarah getting high for the first time ever, and then actually going through with all those great stoned ideas.

I hate to be that guy, but UFC Ultimate Fighter isn’t Rampage Vs. Forrest anymore, its Mir Vs Nogueira.
