(Season 2, Episode 2)
It’s just one big chemistry set in the jungle tonight. No steamy shower scene between Wendy and Shane (damn!), but plenty of hot moments for Nico and Victory. With guys, that is, not with each other.
First, Nico. How much time should pass before you stash the black dresses in the back of the closet? For Nico, not much. She’s already hot and heavy with Kirby the photographer, and I couldn’t be happier! Those two have such smokin’-hot chemistry together, it’s ridiculous.
Too bad her dead husband’s pregnant lover shows up demanding cash and food. But you know what? I thought it was really classy of Nico (and the show’s writers) to have her do the unexpected thing and help the girl out.
Also, I can think of nothing worse than going to a club and switching clothes with all the sweaty people there. Is that really done? I’ve gotta get out of the North Woods more often. On second thought, I’ll stay right here. At least the night culminated with Nico and Kirby having sex on the rooftop. Nice. Yeah, we do that here in the North Woods all the time.
Geez, that Joe is such a sexist pig! He makes me crazy, and I totally understand now why Victory said buh-bye to his king-sized bed (well, besides the fact that they have zero chemistry).
On the other hand, her new guy — Rodrigo the contractor? Sweet! I love the fact that he’s the complete opposite of Victory. She’s classy and fashion-oriented. He’s sweaty and wears jeans. And it doesn’t hurt that he looks a teensy bit like Ray Liotta, only not so gangster-edgy.
Wendy’s storyline about the movie star with cancer? Bah, too sad. Can’t even talk about it.
I have to mention the music by W.G. Snuffy Walden. Such a long history of great music he’s given us in shows like Once and Again, The West Wing, Friday Night Lights, and thirtysomething, where he worked with Timothy Busfield, who’s a producer and director on Lipstick Jungle.
Reader Question: Who’s the band that was playing in the club where Nico and Kirby did the clothes-switching? I love them!
You know, I think Victory has better chemistry with Joe, but I like their working relationship. As a Phd in Comp Lit, I don’t recall ever getting knocked up by my prof and then totally blackmailing his wife. However, I like the way Nico saw a similarity between herself and evil grad student. I was kind of hoping to see Nico and Kirby slow down and do more ‘date nights,’ so I could see the potential for a relationship outside of their ‘smoking chemistry’ ;)
