Tears will roll courtesy of truTV’s hit (Impractical) Jokers

Remember those carefree, unencumbered days of our youth, when we were fearless, daring and pretty much immune to anything which might have crossed our paths? I certainly do.

And that’s precisely what Joe Gatto, Sal Vulcano, Brian “Q” Quinn and James “Murr” Murray — better known as the (Impractical) Jokers — do episode after episode with the release of (Impractical) Jokers: The Complete First Season on DVD. They place practicality (and pride) behind them and commit personal dares on one another for our entertainment.

I first caught truTV’s (Impractical) Jokers at the behest of my daughters who begged me to watch a couple episodes one lazy afternoon. Having witnessed one daughter’s obsessions with — *shudder* — Animal Planet’s Searching For Bigfoot, I was naturally reluctant. But being a father you have to give in to those requests on occasion. You just never know: You could lose minutes of your life you’ll never get back … or you could encounter a shining light at the end of the viewing tunnel.

To my surprise and relief, I didn’t lose precious minutes. I got a glowing, bright dose of enlightenment courtesy of these guys. I was immediately hooked. Joe, Sal, Q and Murr became instant television compadres, comrades in arms so to speak. They were comfort food for my eyes, able to propel me back to my youth when I pulled stunts with friends on a dare. Nab this nifty set and maybe you can relate to some of those antics as well.

The set includes the entire 17 episode first season of the series and includes behind-the-scenes features, deleted scenes and several episodes with commentary from the guys. You’ve seen all the special features previously on other collections, but this set gives you additional laughs worth the time and effort.

A personal favorite of this compilation? Episode 15 where the guys have to snag as many items off the plates of unsuspecting patrons innocently dining … without the guys uttering a word:

If you haven’t seen the show before, grab this set and take in the entire season at a run. There won’t be any doubt why I got hooked on it. For those who have caught the show, this makes a perfect stocking stuffer for the possibly hard-to-buy-for (or “impractical”) person on your Christmas list.
