Bio: If you live on the East Coast and watched a local ad on cable between 2002 and 2005, there's a chance I had something to do with that-- I may have even written it. I'm sorry and I promise that I never *wanted* to end a commercial with a shot of the employees standing in the parking lot and waving; it just happens. Right now, I confine my writing to various corners of the internet, including the entire CliqueClack family of sites. If you travel between the sites, you can probably figure out enough information about me to steal my identity. So good luck with that, sucker. Have fun paying my student loans.

Hold the Meat – Is my baby trying to tell me something?

One of my very first Hold The Meat columns dealt with whether or not we were going to raise my then-six-month-old baby as a vegetarian. While we haven’t yet made a final decision regarding this issue, lately I feel as though my kid has been trying to tell me something. The photo above is an […]

Hold the Meat – I’ve fallen in love again

If you’ve been reading this column, then you know that I’ve effusively extolled the virtues of Quorn, the non-soy chicken (and turkey, beef, etc. but mostly chicken) alternative. I’m obsessed with it and think it’s the greatest thing to happen to vegetarians since Ruby Tuesday started serving veggie burgers (before they started to suck hardcore). […]

Hold the Meat – Think being a vegetarian is healthy? Talk to me.

You guys, I can make any good thing bad. Plan a picnic; I’ll bring the ants. Go swimming; I’ll bring the lightning. So it goes without saying that I totally have the ability to make even being a vegetarian unhealthy. Now granted, I am a very healthy person: I never get sick, I don’t have […]

Hold the Meat – How Ruby Tuesday broke my heart

While restaurants have gotten a lot better about having vegetarian options on the menu, very few offer anything beyond the standard portobello sandwich or meatless pasta dish. The closest they’ll get to catering to vegetarians is offering a veggie burger. Unfortunately, the veggie burger is invariably the food service version of a Gardenburger or Boca […]

Hold the Meat – Eat a PETA

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. What a great concept. I am all for the ethical treatment of animals. In fact, that is why I’m mainly okay with hunting: if you’re going to kill and use an animal for food, shooting it is a much better way than electrocuting it, or smashing in its […]

Potato Salad – The World’s Easiest

In case I haven’t made it abundantly clear, I’m not super-comfortable in the kitchen. In fact, one of the reasons I started writing for CliqueClack Food is because I had a baby and wanted to become more comfortable so I could feed my family well. So it should come to no surprise that I don’t […]
